On the THRESHOLD of performance – Part M compliance
ARDEN WINDOWS DELIVER durable, sustainable, cost effective and bespoke made to measure solutions to the UK door market. Arden’s technical team are constantly developing new ideas, designs and performance enhancing improvements to our current range.
Part M - Access to and use of Buildings
Part M requires the inclusive provision of ease of access to and circulation within all buildings, together with requirements for facilities for disabled people.
“Part M - Building should have reasonable provision for all people to gain access and use the building”
The traditional goal post frame
Arden now supply as standard a full width threshold with a thermal break throughout the length. The use of a composite material ensures that the thermal break eliminates cold bridging across one of the areas of a door that impacts on thermal performance. Single doors are available with a goalpost frame with a unique thermally efficient composite anti-damp barrier preventing the timber frame from being in contact with the floor. Arden have worked with key suppliers to enable us to offer this solution without impacting on the overall cost of our door sets.
The Hollodeen® 1000 custom threshold
The threshold is made from Hollodeen®, an extremely durable material. The life of the threshold is essentially unlimited as even when exposed to ground level moisture there is no risk of rot. The threshold ensures a water and air-tight seal which in turn assist is supporting efficient climate control. In addition Hollodeen® has an extremely low heat conductivity (0.4 W/m2K) to prevent cold bridges. These threshold and cills can greatly reduce linear heat loss, which is unavoidable with other materials such as aluminium, stone and concrete. The product is maintenance free and never needs painting.
